2027 Foundation (Prep) Enrolments

All Victorian government primary schools follow the statewide Foundation (Prep) enrolment timeline. The timeline advises families when and how to enrol their child at a Victorian government primary school.

You can apply to enrol your child in Foundation (Prep) in 2027 from Monday 20 April 2026

What you need to do:

  2. Submit an enrolment application by Friday 31 July 2026.
    • Our school uses the Department of Education’s secure digital enrolment system called VicStudents. This means you can submit your Foundation (Prep) application online and receive updates through the system. If you have any questions about the online enrolment process, please contact our school. Paper enrolment application forms are also available on request.
    • Based on your enrolment application, we may contact you for a pre-enrolment meeting to support our planning for 2027.
  3. You will be notified of the outcome of your application between Monday 3 August and Friday 14 August 2026.
  4. If you receive an enrolment offer, you should accept the offer by Friday 28 August 2026.
  5. Take part in school transition sessions during Term 4, 2026.

Enrolment Restrictions

Our school has an enrolment restriction under section 2.2.6 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic). Approved entry criteria for our school for the 2026 school year are:

  • students who live within the school zone
  • students with a sibling attending the school at the same time
  • students seeking enrolment on compassionate grounds, in exceptional circumstances.

Students seeking enrolment in Foundation must meet one of the above criteria to be eligible for enrolment in 2026. Students seeking enrolment in other year levels continue to be subject to the Placement Policy.

The department will review this enrolment restriction yearly and provide updated advice as necessary for the subsequent school year.

Our School Zone

Our school zone is available on findmyschool.vic.gov.au which hosts the most up-to-date information on school zones in Victoria.

Students residing within our school zone are guaranteed a place at our school, which is determined based on your permanent residential address.

Our school manages enrolments using the Placement Policy to ensure that students have access to their designated neighbourhood school and may enrol at another school, if there are available places.

SEALS

Pakky SEALS – Social Emotional and  Academic Learning Skills Development Program

Our Program allows children to develop and practise some of the pre-learning skills necessary for success at school. Oral language, fine motor skills, pre-literacy and pre-numeracy readiness are a focus of the program.

Children will participate in directed activities which will extend their learning skills. These skills, along with strategies and behaviours will have them well prepared to begin formal schooling at the beginning of their Prep year.

Recent studies suggest that children’s adjustment to their first year of school is strongly influenced with the school setting . We aim to have your child feeling safe and secure in the school environment to ensure they have a positive start at school.

We aim to engage our students by planning meaningful and enriching learning experiences so students can experience success. We have used our school values to determine three expected behaviours. These behaviours underpin everything that we do at Pakenham Hills Primary School.

  • Be a Learner
  • Be Respectful
  • Be Safe

Pakky SEALS sessions will run throughout Term 4 in 2026. These sessions are only available to families who have completed the enrolment process.
